Your first vist to Dr. Leavitt
1. Complete Paperwork
On your first visit we will ask you to fill out some brief paperwork concerning your medical history, which gives us important information about yourself and your past medical conditions. This will help us in the examination and any required treatment. |
2. Introduction
In order to diagnose your circumstance, Dr. Leavitt will ask you a series of questions related to chiropractic conditions and will conduct specialized exams to determine the severity of your condition. A chiropractic exam will consist of an evaluation of your Posture.
|
3. X-Ray Studies
Your condition may require on site x-rays to further evaluate possible structural imbalance, which may contribute, to your condition. An x-ray serves as a "map" of your backbone allowing us to pinpoint diagnosis and treatments. For your convenience, we have x-ray facilities on site. Please bring your x-rays with you if you have them.
|
4. Same Day Treatment
If necessary, patients may receive treatment following the examination. The treatment normally consists of an alignment of the backbone and incorporates ice therapy, trigger point therapy and soft tissue work. This combination helps to reduce the built-up stress and tension of the body leading to better patient relief. |
Post Exam Consultation and Home Care Program
After the exam and treatment (if necessary) Dr. Leavitt will provide a full Post Exam consultation for you. He will explain the prescribed treatment for recovery of your condition. This may also include a personalized Home Care Program that will cover things like; how to sleep, how to sit properly at work, how to lift items, etc. The program may also include basic exercises, stretches, ice or heat application and instructions regarding certain activities or positions to avoid. If follow up visits are needed they will be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you.
Please check "Post Treatment Care" page.
In the beginning, visits may be frequent.
Most patients start with Initial Intensive Care. The first thing most new patients want is to feel better. So, in the beginning, visits are usually frequent. Your chiropractic adjustments may be combined with other procedures to help relieve your symptoms. Depending upon your age, condition, and lifestyle, repeated visits over weeks or months may be needed to reduce your symptoms.
A chiropractic lifestyle, combined with other healthy habits is part of wellness approach to health.
Visit frequency is reduced as patients respond to decreased symptoms and improved spinal function.
